CNMI Women’s Summit Approaching

The CNMI Women’s Association, together with the Office on Women’s Affairs and First Lady Diann Tudela-Torres, calls all women to come together for the 2016 CNMI Women’s Summit, happening on March 30 – 31 at the Kanoa Resort’s Seaside Hall.

DCCA seeks input on State Plan for Child Care and Development

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is seeking the public’s assistance in developing its State Plan for the Child Care and Development Block Grant.

Public hearings are scheduled next month on all three islands to finalize the plan, which has been revised based on provisions spelled out in the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act of 2014.

The schedule of hearings are as follows:

ROTA:  2/8/16 – Youth Center (Sinapalo Village) – 6:00PM

TINIAN: 2/9/16 – Tinian Elementary School Cafeteria – 6:00PM

SAIPAN: 2/11/16 – Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center – 6:00PM

Torres extends Soudelor Disaster Notice

SEAL THUMBThis afternoon, Acting Governor Ralph DLG. Torres extended the declaration which declares the Northern Mariana Islands a disaster area and an area in significant emergency for the fourth time.

The document, titled E.O. 2015-20, aims to extend the previous declaration which was signed one day after Typhoon Soudelor ravaged the island with Category 4-type winds and rain was extended anew to “protect the health and safety of the people of the Commonwealth”, as some residents are still in the process of rebuilding over 100 days after the typhoon’s passage.
